Blake Hart is a Therapist in Training at MindSpa Mental Health Centre. He offers therapy for adolescents aged 14 and older, young adults and adults at the Kanata and Gloucester clinics in Ottawa. In addition, he sees clients virtually anywhere in Ontario. Blake is completing his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at the University of Ottawa, where his research explores therapist authenticity and the role of genuine human connection in psychotherapy.

In his practice, Blake supports clients living with anxiety, ADHD, depression, grief and loss, stress and burnout, and low self-esteem. He also helps with relationship challenges, life transitions and emotional regulation. He is especially passionate about working with teens and young adults as they navigate identity, school, relationships and career decisions.

Clients who work with Blake Hart can expect a person-centred approach grounded in trust. When it fits their goals, he also draws on evidence-based methods such as CBT and Emotion-Focused Therapy. To help new clients decide whether he’s the right fit, Blake offers a free 20-minute consultation.

Areas of Focus

Adolescent Therapy (14+)

The teen years bring pressure from every direction: school, friendships, family, social media and big questions about the future. Blake gives adolescents a space where they can talk openly without judgment. Common concerns include anxiety, low mood, stress, self-esteem, relationships and difficulty managing emotions.

Young Adult Therapy

Leaving high school, starting post-secondary, entering the workforce and building independence can feel exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Blake helps young adults in Ottawa and across Ontario work through identity questions, career decisions, relationship changes and the uncertainty that often comes with this stage of life.

Individual Adult Therapy

For adults, Blake offers one-on-one counselling for anxiety, depression, burnout, grief and feeling stuck. Some clients come in with a specific concern, while others simply sense that something isn’t quite right. Either way, sessions move at the client’s pace and focus on what matters most to them.

Virtual Therapy Across Ontario

Blake also provides secure online therapy for clients anywhere in Ontario. As a result, teens, students and busy adults can get support from home, without travel time, and with the same quality of care as in-person sessions.

Meet Blake

“I believe therapy works best when you feel comfortable being yourself. My aim is to create a space where you feel understood, supported and free to explore whatever brought you to therapy, at your own pace.

My graduate research focuses on therapist authenticity and the role genuine human connection plays in psychotherapy. For me, that interest isn’t just academic. It’s something I try to bring into every conversation I have with clients.

No two people experience life the same way, so I don’t believe therapy should follow a script. Some sessions may focus on understanding patterns that have shaped your life for years. Other sessions might involve learning practical strategies for anxiety, difficult relationships or overwhelming emotions. Most often, therapy is a balance of both.

Whether you’re dealing with something specific or simply feeling stuck, we’ll work together to understand what’s going on and find practical ways to move forward.”

How Blake Can Help

Anxiety Therapy

Anxiety can look like constant worry, racing thoughts, trouble sleeping or avoiding situations that feel overwhelming. Blake helps clients understand what drives their anxiety and, in turn, build practical tools to feel calmer and more in control.

ADHD Support

Living with ADHD can affect focus, organization, motivation, relationships and self-confidence. Blake works with teens and adults to develop strategies for managing daily challenges while also addressing the stress and frustration that often come with ADHD.

Depression Therapy

When low mood, low energy or a loss of interest start to take over, everyday life can feel heavy. Blake offers a supportive, non-judgmental space to explore what’s contributing to depression and to take small, meaningful steps toward feeling better.

Grief and Loss Counselling

Grief doesn’t follow a timeline. Whether a loss is recent or long past, Blake helps clients make room for their feelings, honour what they’ve lost and find ways to carry grief without being consumed by it.

Stress and Burnout Therapy

Chronic stress from school, work or caregiving can leave people exhausted and disconnected. For this reason, Blake helps clients recognize the signs of burnout, set healthier boundaries and rebuild energy for the things that matter.

Self-Esteem Therapy

Self-criticism, comparison and the feeling of not being “enough” can shape how people show up in every area of life. However, those patterns can change. Blake helps clients build self-compassion and a stronger, more stable sense of self-worth.

Relationship Challenges

Conflict with family, friends or partners can be one of the most painful parts of life. Blake supports individuals in understanding relationship patterns, communicating more clearly and setting boundaries that protect their well-being.

Life Transitions

Graduating, moving, changing careers or ending a relationship can bring unexpected stress, even when the change is positive. Blake helps clients manage uncertainty and move into new chapters with more confidence.

Emotional Regulation

Intense emotions that feel hard to control can strain relationships and daily life. Using approaches such as Emotion-Focused Therapy, Blake helps clients understand their emotions, respond instead of react, and feel more balanced.

Blake Hart’s Professional Background

Blake Hart is completing his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at the University of Ottawa. His graduate research examines therapist authenticity and how genuine human connection contributes to change in psychotherapy. That research shapes the relational, down-to-earth style he brings to his clinical work.

Currently, Blake is completing his clinical training at MindSpa Mental Health Centre. There, he provides therapy to adolescents, young adults and adults in Kanata, Gloucester and virtually across Ontario. In addition, his work is supported by MindSpa’s experienced, multidisciplinary clinical team through ongoing supervision and consultation.

Therapeutic Approach

Blake’s approach is person-centred, which means he sees the therapeutic relationship as the foundation for meaningful change. Above all, he believes everyone deserves to be heard without judgment, and that feeling truly understood is often where healing begins.

Rather than following a script, Blake adapts each session to the person in front of him. Sometimes that means exploring long-standing patterns; other times, it means building practical skills for the week ahead. When they align with a client’s goals, he also integrates evidence-based and strengths-based interventions, so therapy stays both supportive and practical.
