Art Therapy in Ottawa with Elena Kourounis

As an Art Therapist-in-Training in Ottawa, I support clients through creative expression, emotional exploration and supportive counselling. I am currently completing graduate-level education in counselling and art therapy. All services are provided under the clinical supervision of a Registered Psychotherapist in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

A Creative and Supportive Approach

I combine art-making with conversation to create a warm and supportive space. Together, we may use different art materials to explore emotions, process life experiences and consider new perspectives.

My counselling style is client-centred and grounded in empathy, authenticity and collaboration. I aim to provide a welcoming environment where clients feel heard, respected and able to express themselves without judgment.

Supportive counselling may help people manage everyday stress, grief, relationship difficulties and major life changes. It can also support clients who want to strengthen communication skills, develop coping strategies or build greater emotional resilience.

Art Therapy for Children, Teens and Adults

My background in teaching and psychology helps me adapt sessions to the developmental needs of children and teens. I use creative, age-appropriate activities to encourage communication and emotional expression.

In my work with adults, I support people experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship challenges and life transitions. Sessions may involve art-making, verbal reflection or a combination of both, depending on each client’s comfort and goals.

I also work with couples and families who want to explore communication, relationships and shared experiences through a creative and supportive process.

Group Art Therapy in Gloucester

I facilitate clinically supervised art therapy groups at MindSpa Mental Health Centre. These groups offer participants an opportunity to connect, reflect and express themselves alongside others with similar experiences.

I currently facilitate MindSpa’s Perimenopause and Menopause Art Therapy Group in Gloucester. The group provides a supportive and creative space to explore the emotional, relational and personal changes that may arise during perimenopause and menopause. No previous art experience is needed.
